2024 Lake Wheeler Invitational to Host Intercollegiate Rowing Event

The 2024 Lake Wheeler Invitational is set to take place on April 26-27 at Lake Wheeler Park, where collegiate teams from various universities will compete in a rowing event co-sponsored by UNC-Chapel Hill and Duke University women’s rowing programs.

According to event details, preparations for the invitational will lead to closures in the park. “The Lake Wheeler boating launch area will be closed to the public,” as stated.

On April 25th, “Lake Wheeler Park will be closed for general access. Event staff, athletes, and coaches may access the park. No spectators,” the announcement continued.

As the event kicks off on April 26th until April 27th, “Lake Wheeler Park will be closed for general access. Event staff, athletes, coaches, and rowing regatta spectators may access the park. Event parking will be $20 per vehicle,” the organizers shared.

Following the intense rowing competitions, on April 28th, “Lake Wheeler Park will reopen to the public,” allowing visitors to enjoy the park once again.
