Abbotts Creek Community Center is excited to announce its upcoming programs for the Winter/Spring season. From book clubs to fitness classes, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Registration is now open for all programs.

One of the highlights of the season is the Book Club, which will meet every Monday from March 18 to April 22. The book selected for discussion is “Everything I Never Told You” by Celeste Ng. Participation in the book club is free, but participants are responsible for any lost or damaged books.

For those who enjoy staying active, the Walking Group is a great opportunity to explore the park and its surrounding areas. The group will meet every Thursday morning starting from March 7 at 10 a.m. In case of inclement weather, participants will be notified of any cancellations or alternative activities.

Abbotts Creek also offers a variety of fitness classes to cater to different interests and fitness levels. The Pound Fitness class on Mondays at 5:30 p.m. is a high-energy workout that combines cardio and strength training. According to the center, “Don’t just listen to music – Become the music.” The class is suitable for all fitness levels and provides an exhilarating atmosphere.

Another popular fitness class is Barre, which takes place on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. Barre is a low-impact class that focuses on functional movements, full range of motion, and alignment. Participants can expect to improve body awareness, balance, muscular endurance, and core strength. The class may incorporate equipment such as dumbbells, resistance bands, and Pilates balls.

Zumba, a fun and dynamic aerobic fitness class, is offered on Wednesday nights at 6:45 p.m. The class incorporates Latin rhythms from salsa, merengue, samba, cha-cha, and other genres. Participants will enjoy body-sculpting movements combined with easy-to-follow dance steps. Some classes may also include Chair Zumba and participants are welcome to bring small weights.

For those interested in martial arts, Abbotts Creek offers a unique self-defense class called Jo Kwon Chi (JKC) on Thursdays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays at 11:15 a.m. JKC provides a soft but effective approach to martial arts, suitable for beginners and experienced practitioners alike. The class promises to be enjoyable, efficient, and rewarding.

Tai Chi, a gentler form of martial arts, is offered on Sundays at 5 p.m. Participants can expect to reduce stress, improve balance, and increase flexibility through rhythmic movements. The class is open to both beginners and advanced participants.

Lastly, Abbotts Creek offers Gentle Yoga classes on Tuesdays at 6:15 p.m. These classes create a supportive environment for yogis of all levels, including beginners. The focus is on foundational yoga postures, breathing techniques, and meditation to promote strength, flexibility, and relaxation. Participants are encouraged to bring their own mats and props.

With such a diverse range of programs, Abbotts Creek Community Center is sure to have something for everyone. Whether you’re looking to join a book club, get active, or explore martial arts and yoga, the center has it all. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to participate in these exciting programs.
