Amazon has announced the launch of four new Echo devices designed specifically for Alexa+, its next-generation AI assistant. The lineup includes the Echo Dot Max, Echo Studio, Echo Show 8, and Echo Show 11. These devices are equipped with new custom-designed silicon chips and the Omnisense sensor fusion platform to enhance personalized and proactive interactions.
According to Amazon, “Earlier this year, we launched Alexa+, our next-generation AI assistant that’s deeply conversational and engaging, personalized, and gets things done. Already, the millions of customers with Early Access are talking to Alexa over 2x more, having deeper conversations on any topic, and relying on her to complete more tasks like controlling smart home devices, booking reservations, and helping navigate the family calendar.”
The new custom silicon chips—AZ3 and AZ3 Pro—are central to these devices. The AZ3 chip in the Echo Dot Max improves conversation detection and microphone performance by filtering out background noise and increasing wake-word detection accuracy by over 50%. The more advanced AZ3 Pro is included in the Echo Studio, Echo Show 8, and Echo Show 11; it supports state-of-the-art language models and vision transformers.
Amazon’s Omnisense platform integrates various sensors such as a 13-megapixel camera (on select models), audio inputs, ultrasound technology, Wi-Fi radar, accelerometer data, and Wi-Fi channel state information (CSI). This allows Alexa+ to respond intelligently to events at home—for example: delivering reminders when a specific person enters a room or alerting users if their garage door is left open late at night.
The new Echo Dot Max offers nearly three times the bass of its predecessor thanks to a redesigned two-way speaker system featuring both a woofer for deep bass and a tweeter for high notes. It will be priced at $99.99. The updated Echo Studio is now smaller but maintains immersive sound quality with spatial audio support including Dolby Atmos; it will retail for $219.99.
Customers can also set up home theater systems by connecting up to five compatible Echos with Fire TV sticks using Alexa Home Theater functionality—a process Amazon says simplifies what would normally require costly professional installation.
The latest smart displays—Echo Show 8 ($179.99) and Echo Show 11 ($219.99)—feature modern designs with high-definition screens utilizing in-cell touch technology for improved clarity across lighting conditions. Each device includes a built-in smart home hub supporting Zigbee, Matter, and Thread standards for broader compatibility with connected devices.
On these displays users can access entertainment options through dedicated media control centers; manage household schedules using color-coded calendars; track shopping activities from Amazon services; view Ring video summaries; organize family tasks; receive health recommendations via partnerships such as Oura—with additional wellness partners expected soon—and control all connected smart home features from one place.
Alexa+ will also connect users to an expanding range of third-party services through an upcoming Alexa+ Store where customers can enable additional devices or subscribe to partner offerings from brands like TaskRabbit or Fandango.
“These new Echo products are the best way to experience Alexa+, and Early Access is now available out of the box with the purchase of an all-new Echo,” Amazon stated.
