Amazon Pharmacy has announced that it has helped customers save over $100 million on prescription medications by automatically applying manufacturer-sponsored coupons to eligible orders. The company’s system integrates discounts directly at checkout, removing the need for patients to search for or manually apply savings.

“For patients, finding and applying medication coupons has traditionally been a tedious, confusing process involving searching online, downloading forms, enrolling in programs, or calling drug manufacturers directly,” said Tanvi Patel, vice president and GM of Amazon Pharmacy. “We believe it should be much easier for patients to find and afford their prescribed medications.”

Analysis of the program’s data shows that the largest customer savings were found with GLP-1 medications used for weight management and insulin for diabetes care. EpiPens for severe allergic reactions also contributed significantly to total savings. The coupon program covers therapies for conditions such as diabetes, hypothyroidism, emphysema, obesity, and more.

Amazon Pharmacy partners with select manufacturers to ensure discount programs are integrated into its platform. This allows eligible customers to access price reductions on new brand-name therapies without extra effort. According to a recent study cited by the company, patients used manufacturer-sponsored coupons only 15% of the time when they were available. By automating this process at checkout, Amazon Pharmacy aims to bridge this gap and reduce costs for users.

Additional options offered include PrimeRx prescription savings benefits—available through an Amazon Prime membership—which provide up to 80% off generic drugs and 40% off brand-name prescriptions at more than 60,000 pharmacies nationwide when paying without insurance. Prime members can also enroll in RxPass for unlimited access to certain generic prescriptions at $5 per month with free shipping.

Customers can have their healthcare providers send prescriptions directly to Amazon Pharmacy or transfer existing ones. Medications are delivered in secure packaging with real-time tracking updates. Pharmacists are available around the clock for support.

The service is available across the United States with same-day delivery in select metropolitan areas including Austin, Indianapolis, Los Angeles (and Corona metro area), Miami, New York City, Phoenix, Orlando, Seattle, Detroit metropolitan area among others.

Amazon Pharmacy plans further expansion of its automatic coupon program so more people can benefit from reduced medication costs.
