AWS has announced the AWS Cloud Institute, a virtual training program designed to help individuals become certified cloud developers within nine months. The program does not require prior experience and is aimed at those seeking to start careers as AI-ready cloud developers.

According to the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2023, only half of workers have access to sufficient training opportunities in fast-growing technology fields. AWS Cloud Institute seeks to address this gap by offering structured learning that prepares participants for roles in cloud development and artificial intelligence.

“AWS Cloud Institute provides a structured 9-month virtual path to becoming a certified AI-ready cloud developer without prior experience,” the company stated. “The program includes 9 courses, 100+ interactive labs, two capstone projects, and three AWS certification vouchers.” Participants will develop a professional portfolio by solving real-world business challenges during their studies.

The curriculum consists of nine self-paced digital courses covering foundational topics such as Cloud Fundamentals, Developer Fundamentals, and AI for Developers. It also includes specialized modules on computer technology, architecting on AWS, compute services, databases, networking, security, storage solutions, Python programming, machine learning applications, data analytics strategies, generative AI using Amazon Q Developer tools, and sustainability practices.

Capstone projects are an integral part of the program. Learners are required to design and develop working applications that demonstrate their ability to use AWS services and Python code for practical solutions. These projects allow students to showcase their technical skills to potential employers.

Graduates receive three exam vouchers for AWS certifications: Certified Cloud Practitioner, Certified AI Practitioner, and Certified Developer Associate. Upon completion of the program requirements—including coursework and capstone projects—participants earn an official certificate from AWS Cloud Institute.

AWS developed the institute’s curriculum with input from its customers and partners who need skilled talent in cloud technologies. These organizations also participate in tech talks and career services engagements with learners throughout the course.

The total cost for completing the program is $5,670 plus tax—a reduction from its previous price of $7,560—to make training more accessible. Full-time learners typically complete three courses per quarter over nine months; part-time options are available as well.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent credential such as a GED or international secondary education certificate. No higher education degree or work experience is required for admission.

AWS offers additional resources including more than 135 free or low-cost trainings on artificial intelligence and machine learning suitable for all experience levels through its broader educational platform.
