The Carolina Hurricanes have acquired goaltender Brandon Bussi off waivers from the Florida Panthers, according to an announcement by Eric Tulsky, General Manager of the team. The move comes as the Hurricanes placed goaltender Cayden Primeau on waivers for reassignment to the Chicago Wolves in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Bussi, who is 27 years old, has played in 111 career AHL games with the Providence Bruins. During his time there, he achieved a record of 63 wins, 31 losses, and 13 overtime losses. He posted a goals-against average of 2.61, a .915 save percentage, and recorded eight shutouts. In the 2022-23 season, Bussi was named to the AHL’s All-Rookie Team after compiling a record of 22-5-4 with a 2.40 goals-against average and .924 save percentage.
Before turning professional, Bussi played college hockey at Western Michigan University where he had a record of 46-25-5 with a goals-against average of 2.61 and a .910 save percentage.
