The Carolina Hurricanes announced on Apr. 20 that they do not expect to make any changes to their lineup for Monday’s Game 2 against the Ottawa Senators in Raleigh.
The decision follows a strong performance in Game 1, where goaltender Frederik Andersen recorded a shutout with 22 saves, marking his 47th career playoff win and ranking him fourth among active goalies. The same group of skaters is likely to play in front of Andersen, as the team looks to build on its early series lead.
Logan Stankoven scored the opening goal of the Stanley Cup Playoffs for Carolina and contributed to another when his shot deflected off Taylor Hall, resulting in a multi-point game for both players. The projected forward lines include Svechnikov-Aho-Jarvis; Hall-Stankoven-Blake; Ehlers-Staal-Martinook; and Carrier-Jankowski-Robinson. On defense, pairings are expected to be Slavin-Chatfield, Miller-Walker, and Gostisbehere-Nikishin.
Power play units will feature Aho, Ehlers (Staal), Jarvis, Svechnikov with Gostisbehere on the first unit; Blake, Hall, Jankowski, Stankoven with Nikishin on the second. Jordan Staal has been taking faceoffs at the start of most power plays before rotating off depending on possession outcomes.
