The Carolina Hurricanes have reassigned defenseman Domenick Fensore to the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League (AHL), according to an announcement by General Manager Eric Tulsky.
Fensore, 24, has played in one NHL game for the Hurricanes this season. In four AHL games with the Wolves, he has recorded seven points, including three goals and four assists. During the 2024-25 season, Fensore appeared in two NHL games for Carolina, making his debut against Montreal on April 16.
At the AHL level last season, Fensore registered 32 points—nine goals and 23 assists—in 67 games with Chicago. He ranked second among team defensemen in goals, assists, and total points. He also led the team in shorthanded goals with three and was first among defensemen in power-play goals with four. Over his career in the AHL with Chicago, Fensore has played 110 games and accumulated 55 points.
Fensore was selected by Carolina in the third round (90th overall) of the 2019 NHL Draft. Before turning professional, he spent four seasons at Boston University where he totaled 85 points over 122 collegiate games and served as captain during the 2022-23 season. That year, he helped lead Boston University to a Hockey East regular-season title, a tournament championship, and its first Frozen Four appearance since 2015.
“A short handed overtime winner from Domenick Fensore. Doesn’t get much better than that,” stated the American Hockey League’s official account.
