The Carolina Hurricanes announced on Wednesday that defenseman Oliver Kylington and forward Givani Smith have been signed to professional tryouts ahead of the team’s 2025 training camp.

Kylington, who is 28 years old, has played eight seasons in the NHL with a total of 220 games. He was drafted in the second round by the Calgary Flames in 2015 and remained with them until 2024. The Swedish defenseman spent last season playing for both the Colorado Avalanche and Anaheim Ducks. Throughout his NHL career, Kylington has recorded 18 goals and 42 assists, totaling 60 points.

Smith, age 27, has appeared in 168 NHL games over six seasons. Last season he played for both the Colorado Avalanche and San Jose Sharks. Smith was originally selected in the second round by the Detroit Red Wings in 2016. In addition to his NHL experience, he represented Jamaica at the 2023-24 Challenger Series. Over his career, Smith has scored nine goals and added 13 assists for a total of 22 points, along with accumulating 268 penalty minutes.
