The Raleigh City Council has approved funding to rehabilitate a property for emergency shelter units, demonstrating the city’s commitment to addressing housing and homelessness in the community.
The approved $196,200 in funding is allocated to PLM Families Together, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting families experiencing homelessness. The funds will be used to renovate a property located at 1100 Athens Drive, which will house three emergency shelter units for families in need.
“This decision reflects the City’s commitment to investing in solutions to homelessness and housing instability, ensuring that families in need have access to safe and stable housing,” stated a spokesperson for the City Council.
PLM Families Together provides a range of services to combat homelessness, including emergency shelter, permanent housing, and support services for individuals and families facing housing insecurity.
