Duke Energy is urging its Florida customers to participate in an expanded rebate program designed to improve home energy efficiency and reduce costs. The company announced that eligible participants can now earn up to $3,850 in rebates, a significant increase from last year’s $1,700 potential savings.

The initiative involves a free Home Energy Check that customers can complete online, by phone, or in person. This assessment provides a detailed report on the home’s past and current energy usage along with expert recommendations for improvements aimed at enhancing energy efficiency.

Participants have 24 months to implement recommended measures after completing the check. For single-family homes, rebates include up to $1,000 for HVAC replacement, $800 for energy-efficient windows, and various other upgrades like attic insulation and duct repairs. New this year is a rebate of up to $800 for heat pump water heaters.

For manufactured homes and multifamily properties, similar incentives are offered with new instant rebates available for duct testing and repair as well as attic insulation upgrades.

Melissa Seixas, Duke Energy Florida state president, stated: “Our expanded home energy improvement rebate program is designed to help our customers make their homes more comfortable and energy efficient. Through our free energy assessments and expanded rebate programs, customers can make lasting impacts that will save energy, add value to their home and lower their bill.”

The Home Energy Check program is accessible to all residential customers who have not had an assessment within the last two years. It also includes renters and apartment dwellers aiming to maximize sustainability while cutting costs.

Duke Energy Florida serves approximately 2 million customers across a wide service area in Florida through its substantial 12,500 megawatt capacity.
