Duke Energy Florida hosted its Neighborhood Energy Saver Program in Clearwater on April 9, inviting local residents to learn about ways to reduce their electricity bills. The event took place at the Ross Norton Recreation Center and saw around 75 attendees out of more than 2,200 eligible customers.
The program aims to help customers lower their energy costs as summer approaches. Melissa Seixas, president of Duke Energy Florida, said, “Our Neighborhood Energy Saver program is just one of the many resources we offer to help connect customers with ways to lower their energy bill. By bringing our team and the community together, we’re able to get more support in the hands of customers in need as we head into the summer.”
Eligible participants can receive up to 20 free energy-saving improvements for their homes. These include insulation upgrades, sealing air-conditioning ducts, basic air-conditioning maintenance, smart thermostats, energy efficient lightbulbs, a year’s supply of air-conditioning filters, energy saving showerheads and water-saving kitchen and bathroom aerators. The program is open to both homeowners and renters living in communities identified by Duke Energy Florida using federal and state guidelines along with census data.
Since its inception in 1981, Duke Energy has helped Florida customers save nearly $1.25 billion through various energy efficiency programs such as this one. Additional tips for improving home energy efficiency are available on duke-energy.com/home/savings.
