Duke Energy and the Duke Energy Foundation have announced a $100,000 contribution to the One SC Fund, which was recently activated by Governor Henry McMaster to support food banks across South Carolina. This move comes as colder weather and the holiday season approach, a time when many families in the state rely on assistance programs that are currently facing increased demand and funding challenges.

Governor Henry McMaster stated, “Duke Energy’s contribution to the One SC Fund highlights the very best of South Carolina. At a time when many families are facing uncertainty, Team South Carolina is coming together to support our food banks and put food on the table. I’m grateful for their generosity and hope it will encourage others to join our effort to help families in need.”

Tim Pearson, president of Duke Energy in South Carolina, said, “These organizations are fighting the good fight every day in communities across our state, but they cannot do it alone. Duke Energy is happy to stand with the governor, and we encourage other corporate entities, organizations and citizens across the state to help support the fight against hunger.”

In addition to this donation, Duke Energy will launch its annual campaign next week with support from its foundation. The monthlong initiative will provide over $500,000 to more than 60 feeding programs statewide leading up to Thanksgiving. The campaign will culminate with final grant announcements on Giving Tuesday.

The campaign aims to highlight key community partners working against hunger such as Harvest Hope Food Bank, Mill Village Farms, Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, FoodShare South Carolina and AIM. Throughout November, Duke Energy employees will also volunteer with these organizations.

Since 2021, Duke Energy and its foundation have contributed more than $2.6 million toward agencies supporting food security efforts in South Carolina.

The Duke Energy Foundation provides over $30 million annually in philanthropic support funded by company shareholders for communities where its customers live and work.

Duke Energy serves 8.6 million electric customers across six states including North Carolina and South Carolina; it also supplies natural gas services in several states including Tennessee and Ohio. The company continues investing in grid upgrades and cleaner energy generation sources as part of its broader transition plan toward a smarter energy future.
