Duke Energy has launched a “12 Days of Savings” campaign to help customers manage higher energy use during the holiday season. The initiative provides daily tips, from December 1 to December 12, aimed at reducing energy consumption and lowering electric bills.

“During the holidays, energy use naturally increases due to cooler temperatures and shorter days,” said Kendal Bowman, Duke Energy’s North Carolina president. “Our goal is to make it easy for customers to take small steps that improve energy efficiency and deliver real savings.”

The schedule features simple actions such as replacing outdoor and indoor lighting with LED bulbs, adjusting thermostats, sealing air leaks in windows and doors, setting water heaters to recommended temperatures, insulating pipes, installing low-flow showerheads, checking refrigerator seals, changing ceiling fan settings for winter use, and turning off fans when not needed.

Customers are also encouraged to take advantage of Duke Energy’s free Home Energy Assessment. This service helps identify ways to increase efficiency and includes complimentary home efficiency products like weather stripping and caulking. Participants receive a personalized report with expert advice on saving energy and may qualify for rebates on upgrades.

Duke Energy serves more than 8 million electric utility customers across six states and is investing in grid upgrades and cleaner generation sources as part of its ongoing transition toward a smarter energy future.
