An emergency closure is in place on the 4400 block of Tryon Road, near Brisk Gallop Way, due to urgent repairs needed for a significant sewer main break. According to Raleigh Water, the road has been fully closed at this location to protect both workers and the public.

The closure began on Sunday, August 17. Eastbound drivers on Tryon Road are being rerouted; they should turn left onto Avent Ferry Road and then right onto Lake Dam Road before returning to Tryon Road.

Raleigh Water reports that their Sewer Maintenance crews have found extensive damage to the sewer main, requiring major repairs. A pumping system was set up Sunday evening to control water flow from the site. Crews remained on standby overnight for monitoring purposes. The timeline for reopening the road remains uncertain.

Raleigh Water stated that area water and sewer services should not be impacted by this repair work. “Raleigh Water appreciates your patience and cooperation as our crews work to resolve this issue as quickly and safely as possible,” according to the agency.
