Today, Governor Josh Stein announced that GMAX Industries, Inc., a medical products manufacturer, will establish its first North American production facility in Forsyth County. The New York-based company plans to invest $11.4 million and create 36 new jobs in Winston-Salem.

Governor Stein welcomed the company, stating, “North Carolina continues to build on its reputation as a manufacturing powerhouse with its world-class workforce, excellent infrastructure, and outstanding supply chain access that will support this company’s future success.”

GMAX Industries is recognized as a certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) specializing in disposable medical supplies. The company aims to enhance its U.S. presence by constructing a 144,000 square foot facility for domestic manufacturing and distribution.

Eric Liu, President and CEO of GMAX Industries, expressed pride in their expansion efforts: “As we expand our U.S. manufacturing capabilities, our focus remains on delivering high-quality, dependable medical products with greater speed, control, and responsiveness.”

Commerce Secretary Lee Lilley highlighted North Carolina’s advantages for businesses like GMAX: “Our state has the largest manufacturing workforce in the southeastern United States.”

The new positions at GMAX will have an average annual salary of $66,667, surpassing Forsyth County’s average of $65,319. This could result in an annual payroll impact exceeding $2.4 million for the area.

To aid the company’s expansion into North Carolina, a performance-based grant of $75,000 from the One North Carolina Fund has been awarded. The fund assists local governments in attracting economic investment and job creation.

Senator Paul A. Lowe Jr. commented on the positive impact for Forsyth County: “Our growing pool of talent and manufacturing environment are fueling the economy for companies like GMAX to operate, grow, and thrive.”

Key partners involved in this project include the North Carolina Department of Commerce and others such as the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina and Greater Winston-Salem Inc.
