Beginning May 5, GoRaleigh is set to introduce several service changes to enhance public transportation in Raleigh. The changes will impact multiple routes, offering improved frequency and accessibility for commuters.
Route 6 will see significant improvements, with the Crabtree route becoming a high-frequency network route operating every 15 minutes on weekdays and Saturdays, and every 30 minutes on Sundays. This route will connect downtown Raleigh to Duraleigh Rd via Glenwood Ave.
For Route 70X, the Brier Creek Express service will now provide hourly service every day of the week, with the new connection point at the Pleasant Valley Shopping Center. This route will no longer include Crabtree Valley Mall in its service.
Route 19, known as MLK/Sunnybrook, will return to 15-minute frequency on weekdays and 30-minute frequency on weekends. The route serves several key locations including Shaw University, Chavis Park, and Wake County Human Services.
Route 21, Caraleigh, will also become a high-frequency network route operating every 15 minutes on weekdays, serving areas such as Shaw University, the NC Farmer’s Market, and Healing Transitions.
The R-Line, a vital downtown Raleigh route, will resume service running every 15 minutes, connecting major destinations such as the Convention Center, Raleigh Union Station, and William Peace University.
Additionally, Route 55X on Poole Rd. will now cater to the social security building on Poole Rd. and introduce a new park and ride facility with EV charging stations.
These service changes aim to enhance the efficiency and accessibility of public transportation in Raleigh, providing residents and visitors with improved connectivity to key locations across the city.
