Governor Josh Stein has announced a series of appointments to various boards and commissions in North Carolina. These appointments include individuals from diverse backgrounds, each bringing unique expertise to their respective roles.
Joe Sam Queen of Haywood County joins the North Carolina Awards Committee as an at-large member. With a background in architecture and public service, Queen has served in both the North Carolina House and Senate. Margaret Weller Stargell of New Hanover County, president and CEO of Coastal Horizons Center, also joins the committee. Wendy Brenner of Forsyth County will serve as another at-large member.
Stacie Saunders from Buncombe County is appointed to the North Carolina State Board of Registered Environmental Health Specialist Examiners. She represents the Department of Health and Human Services, where she serves as Deputy Director/Section Chief.
Dr. Srinivasan Krishnamurthy of Wake County joins the Financial Literacy Council, representing financial education programs. He is an Associate Professor at North Carolina State University.
Robert (Bo) Trumbo from Wake County is appointed to the Governor’s Advisory Council on Student Safety and Well-Being. Trumbo has a background with the U.S. Secret Service and currently works with North Carolina Emergency Management.
Adrina Bass from Wake County takes on the role of Executive Director for the North Carolina Grievance Resolution Board. Bass has previously served in various capacities within the state’s Department of Justice.
Dorathy Barker from Granville County becomes an at-large member of the North Carolina Agricultural Hall of Fame Board of Directors. Barker co-founded Operation Spring Plant Incorporated, supporting Black-owned dairy farms in North Carolina.
Eric J. Lindstrom and Dia Holman are appointed to the North Carolina Board of Architecture and Registered Interior Designers. Lindstrom brings over 30 years of architectural experience, while Holman is a Senior Lead Interior Designer at O’Brien Atkins Associates.
Denver Ralph Huff from Cumberland County joins the North Carolina Board of Transportation as a representative from the 6th Transportation Division.
Dr. Elena Ashburn from Wake County is named to the North Carolina Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service as a designee from the Governor’s Office.
Stephanie Bland from Carteret County joins the North Carolina Council for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing as a parent representative for deaf children in eastern areas.
Larken Egleston from Mecklenburg County becomes part of the North Carolina Geographic Information Coordinating Council, representing state agencies not covered by certain statutes.
Simone Gilchrist from Durham County is appointed to the North Carolina Human Trafficking Commission as Attorney General or designee.
Lisa Griffin Dean, Dr. Margaret Porter, and Marcia Fort join different roles within the Interagency Coordinating Council for Children with Disabilities under five years old, each bringing specialized expertise in early childhood education and health services.
Stephanie G. McGarrah from Chatham County is appointed to coordinate homeless programs through her role within Commerce’s Division for Community Revitalization efforts post-Hurricane Helene impacts.
Lieutenant Col. Walter David Ham joins military affairs discussions through his appointment to relevant commissions focusing on veteran-related issues near Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.
Susanne Kilgo contributes her extensive optometry experience by joining relevant state boards overseeing optical practices across regions like Henderson county while Roger P Farina advocates veterans’ needs alongside LTC Alexander Mendaloff III who offers judicial insights into veterans’ concerns across districts like Iredell county respectively
Finally yet importantly Leilani Morgan & Margarita Connelly represent individuals living independently despite disabilities via statewide councils aimed towards improving life quality standards among differently-abled communities throughout places such as Durham & Mecklenburg counties alike
