Governor Josh Stein has announced the end of the State of Emergency that was put in place for Hurricane Erin. The hurricane stayed offshore and did not make landfall in North Carolina over the weekend.

“Hurricane Erin has moved away from North Carolina and remained offshore throughout the weekend, so a State of Emergency is no longer necessary. I am grateful to our State Emergency Response Team for all the work to prepare for the storm, keep people safe, and reopen roadways. We will continue to support local needs as crews clean up and assess the full scope of damage Hurricane Erin caused,” Governor Stein said.

The decision was formalized with Executive Order 22, which officially terminates Executive Order 20 related to Hurricane Erin. The state government continues efforts to assist local communities with cleanup and damage assessment following the storm’s passage.
