Governor Josh Stein announced on June 1 the nomination of Caitlin M. Poe as a Special Superior Court judge to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of the Honorable A. Todd Brown.

Poe has worked as a litigation attorney since 2012 and is currently a partner at Williams Mullen. She previously clerked for Judge James Dever III in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina. Poe earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Georgia and her Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law.

“Caitlin Poe’s extensive legal experience has prepared her for this appointment,” said Governor Josh Stein. “I look forward to her leadership on the bench.”

The nomination has been sent to the General Assembly, which must confirm it by joint resolution.

The Office of the Governor of North Carolina serves as chief executive for the state, executes state laws, leads the Council of State, directs budget policy, grants pardons, appoints executive officials, and acts as commander in chief of the North Carolina National Guard, according to the official website.
