Carolina Hurricanes forward Seth Jarvis remains uncertain for Saturday’s game against the Boston Bruins at TD Garden. The 23-year-old winger was helped off the ice during Thursday’s third period against New York, and head coach Rod Brind’Amour commented after the game that “it didn’t look great.” However, following an optional skate on Friday where Jarvis appeared in street clothes, Brind’Amour told reporters he is hopeful that Jarvis will be able to play. “He’ll take warmups and an official decision will be made after that,” Brind’Amour said.
If Jarvis is unable to participate, Domenick Fensore would likely join the lineup as the team’s only extra healthy player. This would result in Carolina using 11 forwards and seven defensemen.
In goal, Frederik Andersen is expected to start as part of the team’s rotation. Brandon Bussi earned his third win of the season on Thursday night against the Islanders. With Pyotr Kochetkov on a conditioning loan as of last night, indications are that Andersen will return to action. In his career against Boston, Andersen has recorded a 16-5-1 record with a .930 save percentage over 22 games.
The projected lineup for Saturday includes Ehlers, Aho, and Jarvis on one line; Hall, Stankoven, and Blake on another; Svechnikov, Staal, and Martinook forming a third line; and Kotkaniemi centering Jankowski and Nadeau. Defensive pairings feature Nikishin with Walker, Chatfield with Nystrom, and Reilly with Legault.
Several players remain sidelined due to injuries: William Carrier (lower-body injury), Shayne Gostisbehere (midsection injury), K’Andre Miller (lower-body injury), Eric Robinson (upper-body injury), and Jaccob Slavin (lower-body injury). Fensore is listed as a scratch unless needed for Jarvis.
Power play units are set with Aho, Ehlers, Jarvis, Svechnikov, and Walker comprising PP1; while Blake, Hall, Nadeau, Stankoven, and Nikishin make up PP2.
The game in Boston is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
