The Carolina Hurricanes are set to finish their State Fair road trip with a game against the Dallas Stars at American Airlines Center on Saturday, October 25. The puck drop is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET, and fans can watch the game on FanDuel Sports Network South or listen via 99.9 The Fan and the Hurricanes App.
Carolina enters the matchup with a 6-1-0 record, tied for second in the Metropolitan Division after a shootout win over the Colorado Avalanche. In that game, goaltender Frederik Andersen made 44 saves—his highest total as a Hurricane—and stopped all three shootout attempts by Colorado. Seth Jarvis contributed both in regulation and with the only goal in the shootout. Eric Robinson, Sebastian Aho, and Logan Stankoven also scored.
However, injuries have impacted Carolina’s lineup. K’Andre Miller was unable to play after warmups against Colorado, while William Carrier and Eric Robinson left during the game due to injuries. They join Jaccob Slavin, Pyotr Kochetkov, and Shayne Gostisbehere on the injured list. As a result, rookies Alexander Nikishin, Charles Alexis Legault, Joel Nystrom, and Bradly Nadeau are expected to see increased playing time.
Seth Jarvis has been leading Carolina offensively this season with 11 points in seven games and shares the league lead with seven goals so far. His linemate Sebastian Aho has also recorded points in each of the team’s first seven games.
With Andersen starting two consecutive games—including his heavy workload against Colorado—rookie Brandon Bussi may start in net against Dallas. Bussi has won his first two NHL starts this season with a .911 save percentage and a 1.97 goals-against average.
Dallas comes into this contest with a 3-3-1 record after an overtime loss to Los Angeles. Under new head coach Glen Gulutzan, they have struggled recently both at even strength and on penalty kills but maintain one of the league’s top power plays early in the season.
Following tonight’s game in Dallas, Carolina will return home to Raleigh for practice before hosting Vegas at Lenovo Center on Tuesday night for Hispanic Heritage Night.
Injury updates remain limited for several players; head coach Rod Brind’Amour did not provide definitive timelines following recent absences from Carrier, Robinson, Miller, Gostisbehere, Slavin, or Kochetkov.
The Hurricanes will wear their white road uniforms for Saturday’s contest.
