Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey is set to participate in a press conference alongside officials from Blue Cross NC and the NC Chamber to announce a new health insurance initiative aimed at supporting small businesses. The event will take place on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. in the Second Floor Hearing Room of the North Carolina Department of Insurance in Raleigh.

The initiative, called Carolina HealthWorks, is a multiple employer welfare arrangement (MEWA) created through collaboration between Blue Cross NC and the NC Chamber. It is designed to make health insurance more affordable for employees of small businesses across North Carolina.

Joining Commissioner Causey at the press conference will be Gary Salamido, president of the NC Chamber, and Fran Gary, senior vice president for Health Plan Business at Blue Cross NC.

The Department of Insurance has announced that the news conference will also be livestreamed on its Facebook page.
