An event focused on combining nature and art is scheduled for Saturday, September 9, at Annie Louise Wilkerson, MD Nature Preserve Park. Participants will take part in a foraging nature hike to collect branches, grasses, and twigs that will be used to create an organic wooden frame. The activity will involve using yarn as the warp and natural materials as the weft in a weaving project.

The program runs from 6 to 9 p.m. and is open to individuals aged 16 and older. The cost to attend is $15. Registration is available through RecLink.

“Join us for an evening of combining nature and art!
You’ll be surprised by the beautiful things you can create using branches, grasses and twigs! A foraging nature hike will yield enough materials for students to create their own organic wooden frame.

Yarn will be employed to create the warp, while grasses, twigs and other found materials will create the weft. Come ready to experiment, and let your hands lead the way!”
