The North Carolina Division of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention announced on April 15 that Jeremy Insetta has been appointed as the new director at Lenoir Youth Development Center.
Insetta brings a range of experience in juvenile justice and corrections to his new role. He began his career in Upstate New York with the New York Office of Children and Family Services, working as a cadet leader at the Sgt. Henry Johnson Youth Leadership Academy. He also served as a corrections officer with the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office while completing his bachelor’s degree.
After earning a sociology degree from the State University of New York at Oneonta, Insetta became a youth counselor at Lenoir Youth Development Center. He later transitioned to work as a juvenile court counselor in Craven County for DJJDP Court Services, during which time he earned a master’s degree in criminal justice. In 2022, he took on supervisory responsibilities at New Hanover Regional Juvenile Detention Center.
Insetta is also recognized for his service in the U.S. Army, where he was part of the Airborne Infantry with the 82nd Airborne Division stationed at Fort Bragg. Outside his professional duties, he participates in community theater, coaches youth soccer, practices amateur photography, and values spending time with his family.
His appointment reflects ongoing efforts by state officials to place experienced leaders within key positions across juvenile justice facilities.
