The John P. “Top” Greene African American Cultural Park has announced its Summer 2025 program and events schedule, designed to celebrate African American arts and heritage. The center aims to provide the community with exposure to the humanities through various workshops and events.
The park is named after John P. “Top” Greene, a prominent community leader, and is located at 401 Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard in Raleigh’s historic South Park neighborhood. The Parks, Recreation and Greenway Advisory Board considered the renaming petition during their meeting on November 21, 2024.
The cultural park aligns with the City of Raleigh’s strategic initiatives to enhance programming in majority-minority neighborhoods and highlight Raleigh’s African American heritage. It serves as a key resource for identifying and preserving cultural assets within Southeast Raleigh communities.
Paul Baker can be contacted for event RSVPs at paul.baker2@raleighnc.gov.

– Arts Workshops facilitated by Georgia Tardy on Wednesdays.
– Genealogy Classes taught by Desi Campbell on Thursdays.
