Today, Congressman Brad Knott from North Carolina’s 13th district spoke at the Rules Committee in support of the Stop Illegal Entry Act. This bill, co-sponsored with Representative Stephanie Bice, aims to increase penalties for criminal illegal aliens and discourage illegal re-entry after deportation. The passage through the Rules Committee marks the final step before the legislation proceeds to a vote on the House Floor.

Rep. Knott emphasized the intent behind the law: “With this law, we change the cost/benefit analysis for criminals, who will then conclude that it is not worth it to come here—or to return here—to pursue criminal activity.” He further stated, “It’s time for illegal immigrant criminals to know that our tolerance for their presence and illegal activity here is over.”
