Isaac Lee Walker, a 19-year-old resident of Lexington, North Carolina, has been charged with insurance fraud, according to an announcement from Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey. The Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division alleges that Walker provided false information to Allstate Property and Casualty Co., claiming there was no pre-existing or unrepaired damage to the left side of his Honda Accord in an insurance claim.
The alleged offense took place on May 16. A criminal summons was served to Walker on September 30. He is scheduled for a court appearance in Davidson County District Court on November 25.
Commissioner Causey urged the public to report suspicious activity related to insurance fraud. “Insurance fraud is not a victimless crime,” Commissioner Causey said. “It hits all of us in the pocket through higher premiums.”
Individuals who suspect insurance fraud or other white-collar crimes are encouraged to report it, either anonymously by calling the N.C. Department of Insurance Criminal Investigations Division at 919-807-6840 or toll free at 888-680-7684. Additional information can be found at www.ncdoi.gov.
