The dog park at Moore Square in Raleigh will close temporarily on August 31, 2025, as preparations begin for the construction of a new permanent facility. The current pop-up dog park is set to be replaced, with the opening of the new space anticipated in December 2025.

City officials acknowledge that the closure may cause inconvenience to residents and their pets. “We understand this may be an inconvenience, and we appreciate your patience during this transition,” according to a statement from the city.

The city team is focused on improving the experience for both dogs and their owners. “Our team is working hard to bring you a better dog park experience that better serves both pups and their people,” the statement continued.

During the closure, residents are encouraged to use other dog parks operated by Raleigh Parks. Updates on construction progress will be provided as work continues.

“Thank you for your understanding as we build a better space for our four-legged friends!” city officials said.
