Two new abstract window vinyl murals by artist Britt Flood have been installed at One Exchange Plaza on Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh. The works, titled “THE WAVE,” are intended to capture themes of creativity, pause, and return.

Flood described the inspiration behind the murals: “the roaring exhale of relief that comes with returning to something you love … the quiet power of creative homecoming. The pause wasn’t empty, it was waiting.”

The addition brings more color and visual interest to Fayetteville Street, providing a space for reflection and inspiration for those passing through the area.

Britt Flood is a painter and mural artist based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She focuses on creating large-scale works that aim to foster connection and evoke strong emotions among viewers. Her public art projects are designed to bring poetry into spaces that previously lacked visual engagement. More information about her work can be found at https://www.brittflood.com.

The installation was organized with support from the City of Raleigh’s Urban Projects Group (UPG), part of the Planning and Development Department. Established in 2022, UPG aims to accelerate project implementation through collaboration across city departments and partnerships with external groups. The group uses economic, policy, real estate, and design strategies to promote prosperity and equity throughout Raleigh.
