The North Carolina Department of Public Safety (DPS) participated in the 2025 Governor’s School Supply Drive, an annual initiative conducted in partnership with the State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU). The drive involves agencies from across the state working together to provide needed classroom supplies for educators and students.
From June 30 through August 1, DPS employees collected a range of school supplies at their administrative office and other facilities in the Raleigh area. On August 5, Secretary Eddie M. Buffaloe Jr. delivered these donations to Riverview Elementary School in Murfreesboro.
“I am tremendously grateful for the donations made by DPS employees during the Governor’s School Supply Drive,” Buffaloe said. “Due to their selfless contributions, these necessary donations will allow teachers and students to start the school year right.”
The drive addresses a recurring issue: many students lack basic materials required for full participation in class, which can impact their engagement and academic performance. Items most requested included paper, pens and pencils, crayons and markers, dry erase markers, fidget toys, headphones, spiral notebooks, sanitizing wipes, and tissues.
