The City of Raleigh has appointed Het Patel as the new Transit Assistant Director, effective June 28. Patel has been part of Raleigh Transportation for six years, initially joining as a Senior Transit Planner and later advancing to the role of Transit Planning Supervisor. His tenure has been marked by significant growth and changes in the city’s transit system.

Patel steps into a leadership position previously held by David Eatman, who served in the role for six years. With a strong commitment to public service and a collaborative approach, Patel is expected to guide Raleigh’s transit future effectively.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to take a leadership role within the organization and continue to make a difference in providing safe, reliable, and accessible transportation options for the community,” said Patel.

In his new capacity, Patel will report directly to Transportation Director Paul Kallam and operate from Raleigh Union Station. Kallam expressed confidence in Patel’s capabilities: “I’m pleased to welcome Het to this new leadership position. He brings a strong sense of collaboration, problem-solving, and vision to our team. Raleigh is growing fast, and Het’s leadership will help our transit division rise to meet the needs of our community.”
