The Raleigh City Council has approved two donations aimed at improving local parks. At its recent meeting, the council accepted $340,000 from The Conservation Fund to support the construction of a new southern entrance to Walnut Creek Wetland Park along Bailey Drive. This project is expected to provide better access for residents in the Biltmore Hills and Rochester Heights neighborhoods.

Additionally, the council received a combined donation totaling $35,000 from the Society for the Preservation of Historic Oakwood and matching funds from Raleigh Parks. These funds will be used at Vallie Henderson Park for several upgrades, including new brick paths, benches, picnic tables, ornamental fencing, and tree protection fencing.
