The City of Raleigh has declared July as Park and Recreation Month, aligning with a national initiative to highlight the significance of parks and recreation in community development. This annual observance, now in its 40th year, acknowledges the contributions of over 160,000 full-time professionals and numerous part-time staff and volunteers who sustain parks and recreation services across the United States.

Throughout July, Raleigh Parks will focus on the role of parks in promoting health, fostering equity, protecting the environment, and uniting people. The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) leads this nationwide campaign.

Residents are encouraged to explore Raleigh’s park programs, spaces, and services that are integral to community life. Additional information about Park and Recreation Month is available at nrpa.org/July. Community members can also participate in online discussions using #BuildTogetherPlayTogether.
