Several members of the Raleigh Fire Department have recently retired, received promotions, or graduated from the department’s fire academies.
Among those who retired were Captain Greg Wheeler, Captain Grant Hall, Captain Chris Ferrell, and Lieutenant Scott Morris on August 1, 2025. Senior Firefighter Jamie Gay retired on June 1, 2025. On April 1, 2025, Captain John Johnson and Senior Firefighter Jeremy Dillard also ended their service with the department.
Promotions within the department took place on July 26, 2025. The following individuals were promoted to lieutenant: Aaron Proctor, Brandon Strickland, Robbie Jones, Devin Woodall, Jordan Lamotta, and Cullen Brown.
The Raleigh Fire Department also welcomed new graduates from its training programs. Members of Fire Academy 54 graduated on April 16, 2025. They are D.S. Coffey, J.S. Cottrell, B.J. Faille, C.M. Gamble, B.J.M. Robertshaw, M.T. Staley, T.J. Ticknor, and F.C. Vaughn.
