The Raleigh Fire Department is seeking applicants for its upcoming Fire Academy, with the application window open until September 30, 2025. The department encourages individuals interested in community service to consider a career as a firefighter.

According to the department, candidates come from diverse backgrounds across North Carolina and the United States. The position offers job stability and a benefits package, with a starting salary of $56,825 effective September 6, 2025.

Applicants must meet several requirements: they must be at least 18 years old at the time of application, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, have corrected vision of at least 20/30 in both eyes, and hold a valid driver’s license. No prior firefighting experience is necessary.

The department plans to conduct two academies in early 2026. The first session will begin in February for those who already have EMT certifications. A second academy for candidates without EMT certification is scheduled to start in late March. Both academies are accepting applications through September 30.
