The City of Raleigh is offering a monthly wilderness skills series at Forest Ridge Park, designed to help participants learn important outdoor survival techniques. The program will cover topics such as the 10 essentials for outdoor safety, navigation, basic knife use, fire building and cooking, and knot tying.

According to the announcement, “If you’re lost in the woods, you will need some skills to get back to civilization. Let the experienced instructors at Forest Ridge Park be your guide. This monthly wilderness series will introduce you to the 10 essentials and staying found, basic knife skills, fire building and cooking, and tying knots.”

The sessions are scheduled for Thursdays on September 11, October 9, November 13, and December 11 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The program is open to individuals aged 14 and older. The cost is $26 per participant. Registration can be completed through RecLink.

The classes aim to equip attendees with practical knowledge that can be used in real-life situations when outdoors.
