The City of Raleigh is offering paddling programs across three parks: Lake Wheeler, Lake Johnson, and Forest Ridge Park. These programs include kayak and standup paddleboard (SUP) instructional classes and guided tours available throughout the warmer months.

Staff members leading these activities are trained according to American Canoe Association standards, ensuring they can teach technical skills and safety precautions effectively. The programs cater to various participants, from those interested in a one-time excursion to individuals considering investing in their own paddle sports equipment. Equipment is provided for all participants, who should be prepared to get wet during the sessions.

For further inquiries, participants are encouraged to contact the respective parks:

– Forest Ridge Park: 919-996-5800
– Lake Johnson: 919-996-3141
– Lake Wheeler: 919-996-6740

Programs will run from June through August with varying times. They are open to individuals aged 14 and up, though those under 16 must register with an adult. The cost is $26 for residents and $41 for non-residents. Registration can be completed via RecLink.
