Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources is seeking community input on the future of Glen Eden Pilot Park. The department has announced a series of open houses this spring to gather feedback from residents about how the park can better serve as a wellness hub for the neighborhood.

The Health & Wellness team plans to transform Glen Eden Pilot Park into a space where people of all ages can access resources related to physical activity, nutrition education, mental health, environmental programs, and social connection.

“This open house series marks an important step in guiding the next phase of programming and community engagement at Glen Eden. Community input gathered during these sessions will directly inform future programs, partnerships, accessibility improvements, and long-term planning for the site,” according to Raleigh Parks.

The department emphasized its collaborative approach: “We are building with the community, not for the community. Every idea and perspective shared during these open houses will help guide how Glen Eden evolves into a space that truly reflects neighborhood needs and priorities.”

Residents are invited to attend any of five scheduled sessions between March 15 and April 26. Each session has a different theme, such as meeting staff members, designing flexible wellness opportunities, supporting all age groups, exploring environmental wellness on Earth Day, and prioritizing ideas for development.

During these events, attendees can expect interactive feedback stations and opportunities to talk with staff. Topics for input include group fitness classes, mental well-being workshops, nutrition initiatives, outdoor activities like gardening, youth programming, park amenities, volunteer roles, and partnership possibilities.

Participation is open to everyone in Raleigh—including families, youth groups, active adults, neighborhood organizations, leaders in the community, and potential partners in health and wellness. Both frequent park visitors and newcomers are encouraged to share their perspectives.

All open house events are free and ADA accessible. Residents who cannot attend in person can complete an online survey instead.

After gathering public input through these sessions and surveys, Raleigh Parks will review feedback over the summer of 2026 before announcing next steps for programming and development at Glen Eden Pilot Park. The department stated that community involvement will be central to shaping Glen Eden’s future as a local wellness destination.

This initiative aligns with broader efforts by Raleigh Parks to promote health equity across the city. The City of Raleigh provides various public services through its city manager’s office (https://raleighnc.gov/city-managers-office) under the direction of an elected city council (https://raleighnc.gov/city-council). In addition to recreation opportunities like those at Glen Eden Pilot Park, Raleigh also supports professional sports teams such as the Carolina Hurricanes (https://raleighnc.gov/doing-business/services/why-raleigh/quality-life-raleigh).
