The Raleigh Police Department (RPD) has announced the launch of CONNECTRALEIGH, a new video camera-sharing program aimed at enhancing public safety in the community. Through voluntary participation, the program aims to increase real-time information available for data-guided emergency responses.
The camera registry program will create an interactive map of security cameras in Raleigh, accessible exclusively to the Raleigh Police Department. This initiative is expected to improve the efficiency of video evidence collection and enable communities to collaborate in creating a safer Raleigh. Additionally, the program will provide immediate contact information of camera owners to aid investigators.
To ensure transparency and gather community input, the RPD has scheduled a series of listening sessions across the city. These sessions will provide an opportunity for residents to learn more about CONNECTRALEIGH and share their thoughts and concerns. The sessions will be held at various locations and times over the next few weeks.
The RPD has released the following schedule for the upcoming listening sessions:
– Abbotts Creek Park, located at 9950 Durant Road, on Monday, February 12, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
– Brier Creek Park, located at 10810 Globe Road, on Tuesday, February 20, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
– Jaycee Park, located at 2405 Wade Ave, on Tuesday, February 27, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
– John Chavis Memorial Park, located at 505 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, on Monday, March 11, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
