The Raleigh Police Department is promoting community safety and neighborhood camaraderie through its annual participation in National Night Out. This nationwide event, which began in 1984, aims to foster relationships between residents and law enforcement.

This year, the event will be observed on August 5. The police department encourages residents to leave their porch lights on from 7 to 10 p.m., symbolizing awareness and hospitality. They also suggest taking this opportunity to engage with neighbors.

Residents interested in having a community officer visit their event can reach out via email at Nationalnightout@raleighnc.gov.

Various locations throughout Raleigh will host events at different times, including Beacon Ridge Community, Bedford at Falls River, Brookridge Apartments, The Carriage House, Cedar Crest Apartments, Davie Street Presbyterian Church, Glenwood Towers, Lennox Chase Apartments, Maple Temple Church, North Hills Mall, Oakwood Community Watch Group, Spring Forest Apartments (including Project Access), Renaissance Park, Rich Park Apartments, Tarboro Road Community Center, Tree Top Apartments, Verena at Bedford Falls, Washington Terrace Apartments and Westborough Neighborhood.
