The City of Raleigh is organizing a series of budget listening sessions to gather public input on the allocation of tax dollars. The Budget and Management Services Department will conduct eight sessions, including two virtual meetings and six in-person events throughout December and January.

Virtual sessions are scheduled via Zoom on Monday, December 9, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Thursday, December 12, at the same time. Participants who opt for virtual attendance will receive a Zoom link upon registration.

In-person engagement begins with “Budget & Brews” on Wednesday, December 11, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Clouds Brewing located at 1233 Front Street. Additional sessions are planned across various community centers in each district in January.

These include:

– Monday, January 6, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at Pullen Community Center in District D.
– Tuesday, January 7, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at Millbrook Exchange Community Center in District A.
– Wednesday, January 8, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at Laurel Hills Community Center in District E.
– Thursday, January 9, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at Abbot’s Creek in District D.
– Monday, January 13, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at Barwell Road location in District E.

Registration is not mandatory for attending these sessions unless interpretation or child care services are required; these services are free except during “Budget & Brews.”

Residents can attend any session regardless of their district affiliation. To identify one’s district, residents can use the Services section on the city’s homepage.

For more information about the budget process or inquiries regarding the sessions, residents can contact the department by phone at 919-996-4270 or email at budget@raleighnc.gov.
