Nominations are now being accepted for the Raleigh Commission for Persons with Disabilities Awards, scheduled to take place in October. The awards aim to recognize individuals, groups, and organizations that have made notable contributions to the disability community in Raleigh.

The annual event highlights achievements in several categories. These include the Citizen Involvement Award, which honors an individual, facility, institution, or agency that has advanced opportunities for people with disabilities; Employer of the Year, awarded to an employer who has improved employment opportunities for persons with disabilities; Excellence in Transportation, recognizing organizations that have enhanced access to transportation; and Excellence in Education, given to those who have increased academic enrichment opportunities.
