Solid Waste Services in Raleigh is implementing measures to ensure the safety of its staff during periods of extreme heat. When the heat index surpasses safe levels, there may be minor delays in waste collection services.

Residents are advised to leave their garbage, recycling, and yard waste carts at the curb until they are serviced. To maintain timely service, collections might extend into weekends, and no warnings or fines will be issued during these periods.

Customers are reminded to have their carts ready for collection by 6 a.m. on their designated day. “The best thing to do is put your carts out the night before,” advises Solid Waste Services.

For updates on any service changes, residents can use the Raleigh Reuse Web Tool at raleighnc.gov or download the Raleigh Reuse App from Google Play or the Apple App Store.
