North Carolina is currently facing a heatwave, with Raleigh residents experiencing high temperatures alongside their neighbors. In light of the intense sunshine, the City of Raleigh has suggested making sun tea as a way to take advantage of the weather.

To make sun tea, you will need a large glass container, tea bags of any flavor or brand, sweetener such as honey or sugar if you prefer sweetened tea, and Raleigh Water for optimal taste. Fill your jar with water and use about eight tea bags per gallon. Place the tea bags in the water and set the jar in direct sunlight. The hotter it is outside, the quicker the steeping process will be; usually around two to three hours but possibly less given Raleigh’s current heat.

Once steeped to your liking, add sweetener gradually until you achieve your preferred level of sweetness. The process keeps your home cooler since it doesn’t require using a stovetop.
