The 2024 Raleigh Parks Plan Update has been awarded the 2025 Marvin Collins Award for Specialized Planning by the American Planning Association – North Carolina Chapter (APA-NC). The award recognizes focused planning efforts that show innovation, originality, and measurable impact on the community.

The updated plan aims to create a more equitable and resilient parks system in Raleigh. It is organized around four main areas: Individual Wellbeing, Community Cohesion, Environmental Resilience, and Organizational Commitment. These focus areas are intended to shape investment decisions, programming, and stewardship throughout Raleigh’s parks and greenways.

According to city officials, the plan was developed with input from residents through an inclusive public engagement process. City leaders say it is already guiding decisions and partnerships across Raleigh.
