Red Hat has announced the inclusion of Red Hat OpenShift Data Foundation in its Red Hat OpenShift Platform Plus. This move integrates data services, including software-defined storage, into the company’s enterprise Kubernetes platform. The update aims to offer a comprehensive multicloud Kubernetes stack designed for DevSecOps and application development professionals.
According to Joe Fernandes, Vice President and General Manager of Cloud Platforms at Red Hat, “As organizations diversify their applications to meet the evolving needs of the global economy, the need to quickly innovate at scale while still maintaining a strong IT security posture is paramount.”
The addition provides developers with a consistent data platform that features persistent storage capabilities across various clouds and infrastructures. Teguh Wahyono, Director of Information Technology and Digital at Pegadaian, stated, “With Red Hat OpenShift and Red Hat OpenShift Data Foundation we have been able to modernize our applications, speed up innovation, and deploy new services faster and more reliably.”
Red Hat OpenShift Platform Plus also includes several components aimed at securing and managing applications throughout their lifecycle. These include Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security for Kubernetes, Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes, Red Hat Quay, and Red Hat OpenShift Data Foundation Essentials.
The updated platform promises built-in cluster data management for containerized workloads across hybrid and multicloud environments. New features in version 4.9 of the storage solution include multicloud object gateway namespace buckets for flexible data availability across cloud locations without duplicating data.
Availability of this expanded offering is immediate for current subscribers of Red Hat OpenShift Platform Plus without additional cost. An advanced bundle option with enhanced security features is also available.
