Congressman Brad Knott announced on April 30 the passage of the bipartisan Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026, also known as the Farm Bill.

The bill is intended to provide resources and support for American agricultural producers. This is seen as important for ensuring that farmers and ranchers have what they need to maintain a strong agriculture industry.

“While no bill is perfect, the passage of a comprehensive Farm Bill is essential to ensuring America’s producers have the tools they need to keep our agriculture industry the strongest in the world,” said Congressman Knott. “Farmers and ranchers – particularly in North Carolina – are the backbone of our economy, and they deserve the certainty and support required to succeed. I’m proud to stand with the hardworking Americans who feed, fuel, and clothe our nation.”

Knott was elected in 2024 after defeating Frank Pierce in the general election by receiving 58.6 percent of votes compared to Pierce’s 41.4 percent, according to official results.

The passage of this legislation may impact farmers across North Carolina by providing greater stability for their operations moving forward.
