Congressman Brad Knott of North Carolina’s 13th District has joined Senator Ted Budd in urging President Trump to address the interests of flue-cured tobacco farmers during upcoming trade negotiations with China. The lawmakers sent a bipartisan, bicameral letter to the president ahead of his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The letter calls on President Trump to prioritize flue-cured tobacco, an important crop for North Carolina farmers, as part of discussions aimed at improving trade relations between the United States and China.
Knott was elected in 2024 after defeating Frank Pierce in the general election with 58.6% of the vote compared to Pierce’s 41.4%.
