This fall, Sertoma Arts Center will host a group exhibition featuring five artists: Kevin Peddicord, Brian Imfeld, Jeff “Sketch Guy” Rezeli, Ann Haigler, and Matt Murray. The show highlights different artistic approaches and themes including nostalgia, structure, journey, texture, and human connection.
Kevin Peddicord presents “Portraits, Perplexments and Other Past Peculiarities,” describing his style as “Pop Nostalgia.” He draws inspiration from comic books, cinema, and music spanning the 1920s to the 1970s. His oil and acrylic paintings include both famous and imagined characters with influences from directors such as Fritz Lang and Stanley Kubrick. Peddicord was born in Washington, DC but now lives in Raleigh. His career includes commercial illustration for sports icons and international exhibitions like the 2025 London Art Biennale.
Brian Imfeld’s series is titled “Structure Engaging Spontaneity.” In his abstract works, he explores the balance between chaos and order by starting with spontaneous marks that are later organized into geometric or symbolic systems reminiscent of data visualization. Imfeld is based in Raleigh where he also teaches art at an elementary school.
Jeff “Sketch Guy” Rezeli’s contribution is called “Mountains to Sea Trail Sketches.” In 2023, Rezeli completed a 1,000-mile journey across North Carolina by foot, bike, and kayak with his wife. He produced daily sketches on-site depicting landscapes and landmarks along the way. Rezeli is an architect living in Raleigh who has been sketching for over 25 years.
Ann Haigler offers ceramic pieces under the title “Deliberate Texture.” After retiring from technology work, she began handbuilding clay forms that emphasize careful detail and texture. Haigler is active within Sertoma’s ceramics community.
Matt Murray’s sculptures are grouped as “Everything in Between.” His self-taught practice examines transitional moments in human relationships using wax-based clay. Murray donates half of his proceeds to local charities supporting children.
The exhibition runs from September 4 through October 28 at Sertoma Arts Center located at 1400 Millbrook Road in Raleigh. Admission is free to the public. Visitors can meet the artists on Saturday, September 20 during a special event at the center.
